The Internet has really changed the way that we communicate, how we shop, how we spend time with friends and even how we obtain our education. The history of online education began back in the 1980s when e-training was only just becoming a potential creation. Companies as well as educational institutions were hiring instructors for the purpose of training their students on a strict basis. These instructors allowed for hands on training and students were able to interact with classmates while experiencing the lessons.
As the computer industry expanded, e-training and online education was becoming more of a reality rapidly. Multimedia was instantly at everyone’s fingertips over the next decade, and companies were beginning to use new software programs like PowerPoint, multimedia programs and video games for teaching and training. At this point, online education through sites like elearners.com did not exist yet, but were well on their way.
The first online educational institutions began in the 1990s, because the Internet was hitting it off as a great success and people were truly taking multimedia to all new levels. The first few companies that offered e-training were offering their services to businesses that were not interested in hiring professional trainers. As the 90′s came to an end, there was an entirely new period in play for online learning. Colleges were starting to offer a wealth of online courses in the new millennium.
Today, online education has really come a very long way. Instructors are constantly being hired on in order to teach online courses, sometimes involving live chats and filming for online video lessons. Companies are also hiring in online education programs since training sessions are quick and effective, and entire degree programs are being offered online for many different industries. More and more industries are offering degree programs online, which is simplifying the process involved in getting an education and changing the future of education as we know it.
